An open Bible resting on a dark surface, with radiant golden light and glowing particles bursting upward from its pages, illuminating the surrounding darkness and symbolizing the living power of God’s Word.

A Daily Force - God's Word

The Power of God’s Word

Have you considered why it is so important to read God’s Word every day? As we said yesterday, the Word of God is like food to our souls. But it is more than just a nutrient. It is a living and active force. It's purpose is to work in our lives if we allow it.

The Word of God is not merely words in a book held together by a leather binding. It is the exhalation of God's being released to impact our lives. It is a force—a powerful force—with the capacity to create, heal, and save.

Proverbs tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue. If that is true for mere humans, how much more powerful is the force that comes from God’s mouth—His Word. One of the greatest keys to becoming who you were created to be is steady, consistent exposure to God’s Word.

  • His Word heals inner wounds.

  • His Word renews the mind from negative mindsets and belief systems.

  • His Word rebuilds faith and restores hope.

Yes, reading the Bible can feel like work, even dull at times. But don’t underestimate the significance of spending time in His Word every day. “Give us this day our daily bread.”

The Bible also says His Word is a double-edged sword, dividing soul and spirit. The Word's influence in your life is essential for making good decisions and living life with the right perspective. His Word helps us discern between our soul—OUR mind, OUR will, OUR emotions—and the spirit—His voice, His will, His ways.

Don’t skip this discipline. Don’t rely only on church attendance or weekly sermons. You need the active force of God’s voice in your life daily. When I accepted Jesus at 16, spending time in His Word was the difference maker. I encourage you to make this a daily practice. It will be transformative.
