A winding road leading toward light, symbolizing trusting God and following His will.

Trusting the Curvy Road is Straight Faith

Following God no matter what it looks like

Proverbs 3:5–7 (ESV)
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.”

Trust has always been a foundation of strong relationships. There was a time when a handshake carried real weight—when a person’s word was enough. If you trusted them, their promise was as good as done.

That same principle applies to our relationship with God. Trusting Him—and trusting His Word—is essential to walking in His ways and living with peace.

Proverbs reminds us to trust the Lord with all our hearts, not allowing our own understanding or limited perspective to become our final authority. When we acknowledge Him in everything, Scripture says there is a promise attached: He will make our paths straight.

But what does it actually mean to acknowledge God?

To acknowledge Him is to recognize who He is. It’s declaring that He is God—supreme, all-powerful, all-knowing, and fully authoritative. It’s admitting that He alone is completely trustworthy.

Acknowledging God also means trusting His character, not just His power. Life doesn’t always look like it’s working for our good. Plans change. Expectations fall short. God’s timing and methods can feel confusing. But when we choose to trust Him beyond what we see and feel—when we acknowledge His faithfulness even in uncertainty—He promises direction.

Straight paths don’t always mean easy routes. Sometimes the road feels curvy and unpredictable. But the promise is this: those paths still lead directly to the will of God.

Following God isn’t about understanding everything. It’s about trusting the One who does.
