A slightly caricatured illustration of a smiling middle-aged man wearing a bright yellow “I’m Blessed” T-shirt, standing at a grocery store checkout counter and warmly interacting with a cashier. The background shows softly blurred store shelves, creating a friendly, uplifting everyday moment.

I'm Blessed!

Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

1 Peter 3:10
For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit;

Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

There was a season in my life when everything felt heavy. Loss, setbacks, disappointment, and constant frustration shaped how I saw the world. Negative experiences became so familiar that they started setting my expectations. Every phone call felt like bad news waiting to happen. "What's wrong?" Fear quietly became my posture.

That mindset wasn't just an internal feeling—it affected everything. It influenced how I thought, how I acted, and especially how I spoke. When someone asked, “How are you doing?” I didn’t give the expected polite answer. I would unload everything that was wrong, outlining the negative realities of my life. By the end of the conversation, we both felt discouraged and weighed down.

One day, God interrupted that pattern. He challenged me to change my words. Instead of rehearsing what was wrong, He told me to respond with two simple words: “I’m blessed.”

At first, it felt dishonest. My circumstances hadn’t changed. But I accepted the challenge anyway. I began to restrain my speech and answer differently. What happened surprised me. Those two words redirected my conversations. Instead of sympathy and shared discouragement, people responded with gratitude of their own. Some even paused to recognize something good in their life.

That simple change—adjusting my words—began to change my world.

My daily interactions felt lighter. Conversations no longer added weight to my soul. Even if nothing else changed immediately, something within me did. There was more light and less darkness.

Scripture says death and life are in the power of the tongue. That’s not just a verse to memorize—it’s a principle to live by, a Kingdom law. Words shape reality. They either bring life or reinforce destruction.

So examine your words. Are they building your life or tearing it down? Are they producing joy, peace, and gratitude—or feeding discouragement and despair?

Words create. The question is simple: what kind of world are you creating with yours?

Change your words. Change your life.
